Who Are The Prawns?

It was "Burrows Eve" on the 20th of January 2022 when these crazy crustaceans came together. In one of the many NFT-related chatrooms that have spawned from the Flufworld communities, a group of avid and passionate "Fluffle" members were spending their day as usual, sharing theories, stories and ideas about their beloved Fluffs, Partybears and Thingies.

Then came an announcement from the Mighty Fluffle that to coincide with the release of Burrows and giving our fluffs "a home" that Flufworld would be holding a timed charity auction to give those who are homeless in NFL’s native New Zealand, support and shelter by donating the proceeds to the amazing Auckland City Mission.

The auction was to run for that evening and the prizes would be seven fluffs which were also guaranteed to mint Snoop Dogg Burrows.

The news of this incredible opportunity to not only win a prize but also to support those in need was only a small enough spark to band together with such like-minded individuals to attempt to raise money.

The stakes were high, the prizes were also too good to miss out on and so to increase their chances at winning one of these fluffs at auction against such high-profile ‘Whales” such as Dan Carter and other celebrities, a syndicate was started by the members of this chatroom and dubbed after one of the lowest, crawling sea-bedded creatures as "The Prawn Syndicate."

News of this syndicate quickly broke out among friends and family of the members and what started as a group of about 30 people rapidly increased to a 100 within minutes and as the auction begun, the race was on!

Within hours, the bids poured in! From hundreds of dollars in Ethereum to thousands, to hundreds of thousands they came in thick and fast and so did the donations from The Prawn Syndicate. Strategic bidding was managed by a Prawn named “Floating Coconut” on behalf of this keen group of beneficiaries and The Prawn Syndicate competed to take top spot and take home a fluf while also donating to a worthy charity.

It was close and The Prawn Syndicate was neck and neck all the way to the end, but they just missed out on obtaining one of these coveted prizes. It was a bittersweet result for most whereas although they didn’t win anything, they helped contribute to raising over $1 million NZD for the Auckland City Hospital and this was a win in itself for the group.

What brought The Prawn Syndicate together was not only an overwhelming sense of doing something positive within the community for others but also the sense that anything was possible if we collaborated over our mutual passion for Flufworld.

The opportunity that lay before The Prawn Syndicate was clear, through its efforts to donate towards a common goal, they had raised a large amount of Ethereum together.

It was Burrows-eve and so a vote was put to the hundred “Would you like your donations back? Or would you like to form a syndicate together going forward? – All members raised their prawny arms and so The Prawn Syndicate solidified and started to trade within flufworld under the watchful instruction of newly appointed King Prawn "Floating Coconut

The start of February rolled in quickly in the Meta verse and so did the whispers of something new, something we’ve never heard of before. Diary entries started to pop up by Dr Sparkenski, each one filled with descriptions and clues about of a new type of creature on the outskirts of The Futureverse.

Some of the more engaged members of The Prawn Syndicate started to pick up these clues and set about further investigating what they meant and who or what were they referencing. A subset of the syndicate comprising of about 30 of the original 100 members, dubbed themselves The Prawn Crackers and set off on a journey to uncover more.

Simultaneously in the wider Prawn Syndicate, the conversation about how we could continue to do good within the fluffle began. Many felt that as a collective group of passionate people we could do more for the community at large but didn’t know what this could look like.

Each of The Prawn Syndicate had personally introduced someone to the Metaverse via this opportunity to bring someone into our crazy, little community but there was no information or resources available for them to discover more other than the official channels filled with its own language, memes, and terminology.

The problem was identified, and it was decided that as “Prawns” we could never achieve the highs that whales can obtain financially, however we could add value to the community by assisting and being the “helpers” of the meta-verse.

Prawns started to pop up in various discord servers, helping others and answering questions from new members whilst at the same time, the Prawn Crackers were discovering and solving the hidden challenges and puzzles left behind by the newly discovered: The Seekers.

As Summer came to an end here in New Zealand, The Prawn Crackers had fully uncovered the mysteries behind The Seekers and were instrumental in bringing them to The Futureverse by “Finding the White Robot”. Of the Prawn Crackers, The Secret QT, Richie Rich, Captain KBD, Kerry Echoes, FloofyFoof & others were the first to solve the complicated puzzles set by The Seekers and were awarded for their efforts by receiving an undisclosed prize and also being named as “King Prawns” in The Seekers Metaverse.

With the mysteries solved. The newly appointed King Prawns sought out to help others along their journeys of discovery, guiding the way for those who also sought out The White Robot, gently nudging them towards their destinations.

From these pursuits, a new group of Prawns emerged collectively known as The Fleshy Core. Floating Coconut, Richie Rich, The Secret QT, Seigniht, Offtrack, Kerry, Captain KBD have all been seen assisting new members to the eco-system and enhancing the experience for everyone. Whilst King Prawn Richie Rich created the very website you are reading from today: ThePrawns.xyz.

Although we know the origins of The Prawns and of their legendary altruistic pursuits, we are still unclear of their true purpose and where they are headed. One thing we do know though is that when the beacon is lit, or a challenge is thrown, The Prawns will be there.
